The beginning

It began with a question, not a collection.

Uma Khatri started RUII with a simple question: why should the clothes we reach for every day feel ordinary?

She had always noticed the quiet details—how a seam changes a silhouette, how fabric moves with the body, how the right proportion can alter the way a person carries themselves. What began as a personal search for pieces with more feeling slowly became the foundation of a label.

RUII grew from that instinct: to remove the unnecessary, refine what remains, and create clothing that belongs to the wearer rather than the moment.

For Uma, RUII is a deeply personal expression of how clothing should feel: intuitive, assured, and never overworked. She approaches every idea by first imagining the life around it—the movement, the repetition, and the memories a garment may gather.

Her vision is measured rather than hurried. Each decision returns to the same purpose: make fewer things, give them more thought, and leave room for the person wearing them.
